Socialites, politicians and Australia’s rich and famous attended the Cup right from the earliest days, as they still do today. Since 1877, the Melbourne Cup horse race has been celebrated as a public holiday in the state of Victoria.

Gates open at 11 a.m. and the festival ends at 8 p.m. Buy your advance tickets here for $12 adults, $4 children 3-12. Tickets at the gate are $18 for adults, $5 for children 3-12.
