Socialites, politicians and Australia’s rich and famous attended the Cup right from the earliest days, as they still do today. Since 1877, the Melbourne Cup horse race has been celebrated as a public holiday in the state of Victoria.

Pageant Wednesday: A Good Laugh

ToddlersTiarasPageant Wednesday has returned! Because the Miss Houston and Miss Houston Teen Pageant are only one month away (eek!), I wanted to share some of the best quotes from every woman’s favorite show to laugh along with, Toddlers and Tiaras. If you’ve ever watched the hit show on TLC you know that it’s filled with ridiculousness in the form of pixie sticks, big hair, and a handful of kids who want nothing more than a nap and not have to “practice.” Though sometimes controversial for going “too far” at times, this show is always filled with hilarious moments that leave viewers rolling on the floor laughing. Haven’t watched it before? I highly recommend it.

“It makes me happy when my mommy cries.”

anigif_enhanced-buzz-26215-1326298770-6“Bein’ a diva’s exhausting!”

“When Claudia grows up she wants to own a lot of Taco Bells.”

“A dolla make me holla honey boo-boo!” – Alana from Here Comes Honey Boo Boo

tumblr_lvjscqGS0D1r0hti6“It was funny but I don’t like you so I’m not going to laugh.”

“Emerald’s ambition is to become an octopus or a photographer.”

“I could care less about beauty. I just want pizza.”

“My dream would be to own a whale and have 10 kids.”

“When I’m not doing pageants, I sit at home and act like a cat.”

“When Alanna grows up she wants to reunite Destiny’s child and find a cure for cancer.”

Do you have more hilarious quotes from this hit TV show? Share them with us – we’d love to laugh along with you :)

005764-01-exterior-nightWhether you’re a native Houstonian or new to the area, you’re probably fairly unfamiliar with some of the biggest hotels in the area. After all, Houston is huge! I wanted to spend today’s blog post highlighting of one of Houston’s five-star, luxury hotels: Hotel Granduca.

1503827_175_zWhile in close proximity to the Galleria, Hotel Graduca is only minutes from Uptown Park, Houston’s only European style shopping experience, with nearby boutiques, wine bars, and restaurants. Fully embellished with 122 individually decorated rooms, plasma televisions, complimentary wifi, a spa tub, and a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center, this hotel is one of a kind. So what makes Hotel Granduca better than the rest? To start, the entrance exudes luxury and class. Though in the heart of uptown, their lobby makes you feel like you’re in another world. Their staff is trained to be extremely attentive and to not forget about the “little details” that makes trip special, hence their extraordinary packages that range from spa & romance to business traveler and culinary packages.

1503827_181_zWhether you’re looking for a hotel to celebrate an anniversary or spend the weekend with friend, don’t count this luxury landmark out. Though prices vary depending on room size and date, they have a wide variety to fit everyone’s needs. Click here for more details and accommodations. 55th Annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Downtown – If you were in the downtown area on Saturday, you probably couldn’t have missed this one. The streets were filled with smiling faces and a very green parade! It was a little damp outside

but the spirits were still high. Captain William Dowling, a firefighter who was injured in a fire last year, was honored as the Grand Marshall.

SPD 1960

36th Annual 1960 Parade -Located on FM 1960 this afternoon, the parade was promised to go on, rain or shine! But what’s a Saint Patrick’s Day celebration without a rainbow and pot o’ gold, anyway? The celebration was for a good cause, as the proceeds of the event go to the Cypress Creek EMS Education Scholarship Programs.

SPD luckys

2014 Saint Patrick’s Day Festival at Lucky’s Pub – Get ready for your favorite Monday of the year! Beginning at 6AM, and at three different Lucky’s Pub locations (Downtown, Heights, Cypress), the Paddy’s Day festivities will be going on all day and well into the night. 94.5 The Buzz will be live-broadcasting the event, in addition to 3 stages, 15 bands, and 6 DJs. Expect to see leprechauns, bagpipers, and of course, plenty of green beer! Lucky’s Pub is expecting this year’s celebration to be much bigger and better than last years.

Lucky’s Pub isn’t the only place hosting fun Saint Patrick’s Day activities. Exciting events all over Houston will be taking place, so keep an eye out and get your green on. Wherever you go, have a lucky day and don’t forget to wear green!
