Have you ever wondered what it’s like to try to find suitable accommodation near Glasgow’s SECC for a big event or conference? What are the options? Well, there are easy options associated with that venue, but the choice is limited. There are more difficult and time consuming options searching through the booking agents, but generally they are for hotels only. Even if you do find a hotel of your choice, what about the other stuff you need to know? What do I mean?
www.hotels.tv/Glasgow is delighted to bring you another Glasgow hotel review – up this time is the aBode Hotel in Glasgow’s Bath Street. In fact it would be more accurate to call it the BaBy aBode Hotel after its recent rebranding!
We’ve had access to the hotel and met with its Sales Executive, Laura Osborne, to understand directly from her what this hotel is all about. We’ve also been on a tour of its facilities and rooms and bring you the inside track on the standard you can expect when you go to stay there on our website www.hotels.tv/glasgow. But first here, a quick summary of the main points we took in during our visit and a score out of 100 for the hotel:
|Criteria||Comments||Score out of 10|
|Location||Just away from the city centre but close enough to be able to walk to restaurants, theatres and pubs||8|
|First Impression – decor||Small entrance, tiled and with feature antique lift!||8|
|First Impression – welcome||Friendly helpful staff||8|
|Hotel Cleanliness||Excellent throughout – the lift was being polished as I visited!||8|
|Business Facilities||Limited meeting rooms, but ideal for team meetings. Flexible layout and one room has its own private bar for events/team bonding||7|
|Rooms||Recently renovated (2009) and upgraded, fresh, good standard for class. Massive windows and quirky designs make this as far away from the box-like standards as you can get!||9|
|Restaurant||Now residents-only and limited in its offers. Not open to non-residents.||6|
|Bar||No bar as such but combined space with the residents’ restaurant||5|
|Things you might not know||The feature antique lift is one of only two in Glasgow. Every room has a new Vi-Spring bed - top-of-the-range mattresses that retail at over £2000!||9|
|Unique Selling Point||Massive windows in every room, and every room is different!||8|
|Total||A unique style and ideally placed for visitors to the city||76|
So there you are, a 76% score for the BaBy aBode Hotel in Glasgow’s Bath Street! Top score so far!
