We’ve had access to the hotel and met with its General Manager, Duncan Johnston, to understand directly from the top what this hotel is all about. We’ve also been on a tour of its facilities and rooms and bring you the inside track on the standard you can expect when you go to stay there on our website www.hotels.tv/glasgow. But first here, a quick summary of the main points we took in during our visit and a score out of 100 for the hotel: Continue reading

Glasgow Hotel Reviews – First One Next Week!

Hotels.tv - for independent Glasgow Hotel Reviews

As promised a while ago www.hotels.tv/glasgow is about to launch its own unique glasgow hotel review series, and the first one will be published next week, week beginning 12th February 2012. There have been many Glasgow hotel reviews done over the years, largely from guests who have recently stayed in these hotels and are caught up in the emotion of some experience, good or bad, that they have had. So, what makes www.hotels.tv/glasgow hotel reviews different from the rest? Well, before I get into that I’ll tell you which Glasgow hotel will be reviewed next week: Continue reading

Sticky Carpets? Hairs in the bed? What Would You Like To See Reviewed?

How many times have you opened up a “Hotel Review” blog or post expecting to read some unique insights into the hotel only to find it contains old or copied words written by someone who has never actually been to the hotel? Very often I’ll bet! Well, www.hotels.tv/glasgow aims to change all that – new for 2012…….

A Typical Hotel Bed
Would you sleep in this bed? Can you see any hairs?

……

we aim to bring completely fresh reviews containing information on all the things you want to read about and that will help you decide which hotel to stay at!

But first we want to hear from you what you would like to see reviewed. For example, do you want to know what brands they have behind the Bar? What about the colour schemes of the bathrooms, or the types of toiletries they have (and whether they are in small bottles to, ahem, take away, or are in containers fixed to the wall)? Maybe a hair net is important to you, or free WiFi? Whatever the detail we’ll try to find out and include it in our reviews. This could be fun! Also, if you have any specific hotels you would like reviewed, please let us know.

www.hotels.tv specialises in presenter-led video reviews and we aim to give you, the customer, an independent warts-and-all review of the hotels in question. Even if a hotel doesn’t want or need a video to showcase their facilities www.hotels.tv/glasgow can still provide unique insights into what they have to offer.

Anyway, first things first – please let us know what you’d like to see reviewed, and/or what hotels you’d like reviewed and if you have any quirky requests, then all the better! Reply to this Blog, or email us at Glasgow@hotels.tv or alan.tennant@hotels.tv and we’ll make sure we find out for you!

Glasgow Hotel Video Reviews Increase Website Traffic

With the advent of faster broadband speeds and video sites such as You Tube and many others, the power of video is now beginning to become apparent to both marketing professionals and potential clients alike. None of this is particularly new technology – video in various formats (tape, discs and digital) has been around for years, as has the internet. However, broadband speeds are now such that you can view a video online without the picture freezing while the download speed tries to keep up with the streaming. At Hotels.tv we have been producing online hotel video reviews for years now, and were the first major online booking agent to do so. At Hotels.tv/Glasgow we are developing the video content on our website and will in the next few months be increasing the content significantly. We do already have some videos on the site, and the amount of traffic visiting these is a high percentage of the overall traffic to visit the site. The figures are as follows:

What Makes Hotel Managers So Busy At This Time Of Year? (3)

Hi, following my previous 2 blogs on the subject this is just a short piece to ask for Glasgow hotel managers’ feedback on the highs and lows of 2011 in their hotel. This might be a famous guest, a total refurbishment or a new hotel owner. Whatever it is I’m sure it would have added to the already-stacked workload but hopefully in a positive way. So, what have been my highlights?

What Makes Hotel Managers So Busy At This Time Of Year (2)

Following on from my recent blog on the workload and stress Hotel Managers are under at this time of year, I’ve done some research into what they actually do! Now, any Hotel Managers reading this SHOULD find the tasks and responsibilities listed below familiar, but if there are any gaps or if there are any responsibilities listed that shouldn’t be, then I’m up for hearing about them. So, what do they do?

What Makes Hotels Managers So Busy And Stressed At This Time Of Year?

I guess there are busy and stressful times of year for all industries and businesses, from football clubs to accountants to purchasing managers. Some of the workload will be due to the old chestnut “financial year end”, or as I sometimes heard it referred, “month end”, which seemed to excuse some of my colleagues from doing anything to help me for a period of 2 weeks before the end of a month and the 2 weeks following it…..or so it seemed to me!

So, now that I’m in the hotel industry, what is it that makes a Hotel General Manager so busy that he/she can hardly spend 5 minutes catching breath, far less spending quality time with third parties. Read on to find my opinions……. Continue reading
